A new year presents new opportunities—for both students and parents.

CollegeCounts 529 is excited to embark on a new adventure in 2020! If you’re a parent or grandparent in Birmingham, or if you visit the Magic City often, we think you might be pretty excited too.

We are pleased to announce that CollegeCounts has partnered with the McWane Science Center in Birmingham!

The McWane Science Center is an educational wonderland for children and adults alike, with exhibits, attractions, IMAX films, and so much more for all to enjoy. We’re honored to be part of their 2020 calendar.

On certain dates in 2020, CollegeCounts will be a part of McWane’s Itty Bitty Magic City exhibit, a miniature town designed for children ranging from infancy to 6-7 to learn about all kinds of things, from physics and chemistry to grocery stores and veterinary clinics.

“McWane Science Center’s mission is to spark wonder and curiosity, inspiring children and their families to learn and experience science together, and we are so excited to partner with CollegeCounts to help us further this mission,” said Amy Templeton, President and CEO at McWane. “CollegeCounts understands that families are our children’s main teachers, and they appreciate the importance of providing families with the tools needed to help guide and support our future leaders.”

On a select weekday each month, we’ll have a booth set up in Itty Bitty Magic City with useful information for parents and representatives on hand to answer questions. And for the little ones, we’ll have a Plinko board set up with fun prizes, including the opportunity to register and win a grand prize of a $50 contribution to your CollegeCounts account!

You can find our booth at Itty Bitty Magic City January 28th, February 25th, March 23rd, and April 21st. On February 15th, you will be able to find our booth in the McWane Science Center lobby. We will be posting summer and fall dates soon, so stay tuned to the CollegeCounts community events calendar.

“These amazing CollegeCounts representatives can help you define the path that will lead your child from science lover to our community’s future engineer, doctor, biologist, chemist, explorer, teacher, researcher, innovator, world-changer,” said Templeton.

Additionally, we’ll be giving away 250 passes to the McWane Center throughout the year, so keep an eye on our Facebook page for a chance to enjoy a day of educational fun with your child!

We can’t wait to meet and talk with all the parents, grandparents, and parents-to-be throughout the year. See y’all at the McWane Science Center!
